Facade Improvement Program

The SFDC has been administering a building façade improvement program since 2002.  The results of the program are visible and represents more than $1.2 million of private investment. To qualify for the program, applicants must own or rent a structure that fronts on Richmond Highway.

 

The program provides a 50-50 grant match up to $25,000 for building façade improvements, the program also includes FREE conceptual design services provided by a qualified architect.  The SFDC can help you in locating an architect who will work directly with you to design improvements according to your personal preferences/budget and within the program design guidelines.  Improvements can also include funding for signage, site/access design, landscaping and other purposes.

If your building is more than 25 years old, you may also be eligible for real estate tax abatement benefits on the improvements.   Download the one-page application for the Tax Abatement Program here.
