David Versel Named Executive Director of the Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation

The Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation (SFDC) is pleased to announce that David Versel has joined the SFDC as Executive Director.  Mr. Versel brings to SFDC extensive experience in economic development and a commitment to continuing the revitalization efforts on Richmond Highway.

“Our Board has interviewed many qualified candidates over the past few months, but it was Mr. Versel’s versatility and dedication to the field of economic development that separated him from the rest,” said Kyle Talente, President of the Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation Board of Directors. “It is evident through David’s past experiences and successes that he brings a diverse set of skills to the SFDC, and we are very pleased to have a professional of his caliber join our organization.”

David comes to SFDC with 14 years' experience working with local governments, real estate developers and institutions all over the U.S.  He brings a valuable range of expertise including real estate market and feasibility work, revitalization planning, transit-oriented development planning, fiscal/economic impact analysis, tourism development, and arts/cultural development.  A native of Rockville, MD, David has a B.A. in Architecture from Washington University and a Master of City Planning degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology.  David has spent most of his career as a consultant, most prominently for the Washington, DC office of Economics Research Associates (ERA).  He later worked as a staff planner for the Southern Maine Regional Planning Commission and ran his own consulting practice for several years.

"I believe that the revitalization of aging suburban corridors presents the most pressing redevelopment need of our time," Mr. Versel said. "I am honored to be coming back home to lead SFDC's efforts to revitalize the Richmond Highway corridor."
