Located on both sides of Richmond Highway, Fort Belvoir is the largest military installation in the National Capital region, with 26,000 employees and 7,000 residents living on post. In 2012, as Fort Belvoir is celebrating its 100th anniversary, it also welcomes the new Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, a $1 billion facility with a staff of 3,100. The hospital, which was the centerpiece of Belvoir’s recent expansion, is the home of the Warrior Family Coordination Center (WFCC) which is the nerve center of the Army’s operations for helping wounded soldiers and their families recover.
Fort Belvoir is the largest employer in Fairfax County and supports tens of thousands of households and hundreds of businesses in the Southeast Fairfax area. SFDC maintains an active relationship with Belvoir’s command and is committed to working with the military to improve the Richmond Highway Corridor’s appearance, business offerings, and housing options.
